II Fiesta del Mar de Barahona

The fruits of the sea of the southern coasts and gastronomy will be the main attractions in the “II Fiesta del Mar de Barahona”, to be held at Punta Inglesa Beach. The marine richness and the diversity of products and food provided by the sea in this province will be exalted, which will be valued by the renowned Dominican chef Carlos Estévez, who has been developing a research project with the aim of detecting native products of the province so that they are valued and for people to learn new ways to bring them to the table. The program includes a lecture with Estévez entitled “From artisanal fishing of the Taínos to sustainable fishing in Barahona”, in which fishermen, chefs and cooks from the province will participate, as well as a conversation with housewives and cooks from the area under the title « How to cook food in a delicious and healthy way so as not to make the diner sick ».
