Meetings in Santo Domingo

The capital city of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo is the most vibrant in the Caribbean. Santo Domingo is best known for its Colonial City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Likewise, with more restaurants than any other metropolis in the Caribbean and Central America, Santo Domingo is also known for its intense nightlife.

A rich variety of venues in the shape of museums, cultural, governmental and educational centers and even in shopping malls can be rented for presentations and events.

Santo Domingo is a city of events with a fast-paced live shows schedule ongoing all year to entertain its more than 3 million inhabitants. All year round there are live performances and cultural events at the city’s public spaces – the sea-bordering Malecón, the Botanical Gardens, the San Francisco Ruins, Plaza de España, Torre del Homenaje and Columbus Park in the Colonial City, among others. Cinemas are also available for rent. Meeting planners can help you arrange for activities in these areas and suggest others.

From Santo Domingo, it is easy to connect to all the leisure tourism destinations in the country, a definite plus when planning pre and post convention activities.

The city’s beach suburb, Boca Chica is just ten minutes to the east of the Las Americas International Airport. Boca Chica hotels are popular with those coming to Santo Domingo for sports tourism because the Mirador del Este sports venues are located on the east side of the river. Boca Chica is also famous for its beach-fronting restaurants that serve seafood with beautiful views.

Twenty minutes east of the airport is Juan Dolio Beach, famous for its restaurants, and with its own two 18-hole golf courses – Guavaberry Golf and Los Marlins (Metro).

For more information on the destination, see SANTO DOMINGO, BOCA CHICA and JUAN DOLIO
