Meet in The Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic participates in Canada’s largest meetings and events industry tradeshow
(Toronto, Canada. August 25, 2017). The Ministry of Tourism of Dominican Republic through its Tourism’s Office of Promotion (OPT) in Toronto recently showcased its MICE offer in this year edition of Incentivework, held in Toronto Metro Convention Center, from August 22 to August 23, 2017. The country has been represented in this important fair since 2006.
Each year The Dominican Republic strives to show the country’s MICE segment (meetings, incentive, conventions and exhibit) to the Canadian market. The country offers everything to all styles of groups from beautiful nature, mouth-watering gastronomy, historical museums, top quality shopping and excellent weather year round. With eight international airports and many airlines with direct flights to the country, the Dominican Republic is the best connected Caribbean destination to visit.
“The Dominican Republic has all the facilities and technologies necessary for organizing events, meetings and conventions,” said Abdalah Castillo, Director, Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism. “Many of the resorts are all-inclusive and the single price concept helps avoid any last minute budget surprises. Additionally, the DR’s modern infrastructure and advanced telecommunications systems provide an efficient yet exciting environment for any program.”
During the fair, the Dominican Republic presented the country’s unique position in the MICE segment, highlighting that each region has something unique to offer. Large events are best suited hotels and convention centers in Punta Cana or the historical capital city of Santo Domingo. The cities of La Romana and Puerto Plata are always a good option for mid-size meetings, and Samaná is recommended for smaller groups.
In order to showcase the Dominican Republic’s many MICE offerings, the DR’s booth featured exhibits from Connect DMC, Amstar, Be Live Hotels, IVI DMC Dominican Republic, and The Caribbean Tour. A magazine containing information about the country’s impressive meeting spaces and other relevant offerings was also distributed to those visiting the booth.
Drawing in 8,000 visitors at last year’s event, the show provides great opportunities to connect Canadian companies looking to create incentives outside of Canada with an array of attractive destinations. This year’s fair saw about 700 exhibitors, including the Dominican Republic. After a successful event, the DR hopes to lure Canadian companies to the leading destination in the Caribbean.
