In addition to its vacation spots, the Dominican Republic has emerged in recent years as one of the favorite destinations for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism in the region. This is because business tourists are estimated to spend up to seven times more than leisure travelers, according to data from the Dominican government.

With landscapes ranging from the sea to the mountains and from valleys to dunes, the options for accommodation, transportation, and infrastructure allow for the combination of business and leisure travel. Its eight airports have made the Dominican Republic the best-connected destination in the Caribbean, and it boasts over 80,000 hotel rooms spread across 883 facilities to choose from for group travel accommodations.

The destination that hosts the largest events is Punta Cana, where multiple all-inclusive oceanfront hotels are available, as well as major convention centers like the International Convention Center Punta Cana and the World of Hyatt options. These offer event rooms, formal and informal meeting spaces, and private banquet halls, such as the one located at Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana with 45,000 square meters of space for these events.

Additionally, Santo Domingo is home to numerous world-renowned hotel groups with convention halls. Thus, business and leisure travel have become part of Dominican culture, and with its 1,600 kilometers of coastline, it’s impossible not to go from beach to beach between meetings.

For all organizations, companies, and tour operators, it is important to highlight that the Dominican Republic has been nominated twice as "the best MICE destination" in the World MICE Awards, and in 2021 and 2022, it won the award for Best MICE Hotel in the same competition.
