Zu den bei Anglern beliebten Reisezielen in der Dominikanischen Republik gehören neben Punta Cana, Puerto Plata und Samaná auch das im 19. Jahrhundert von Fischern gegründete Dorf Bayahíbe. Hier kann man überall Sportfischen, dabei gehen vor allem Marline, Barrakudas, Doraden und Goldmakrelen ins Netz oder an den Haken. In La Romana und in Río San Juan ist vor allem Süßwasserangeln beliebt. In den Flüssen fangen Sie vor allem Snooks oder Wahoos. Entlang der Riffe von Cabarete und Sosúa haben Sie die Gelegenheit zum Schleppfischen am Riff und ebenso zum Tiefseeangeln.

Angelturniere sind in Punta Cana, La Romana und Bayahíbe sehr beliebt, dabei geht es recht lebhaft zu. Mit Strandmusik und jeder Menge Frischgefangenem, dass direkt vor Ort zubereitet wird.
