The most attractive character of the carnival of Bonao is the „Macarao“, which has an animal face and is the figure that every year the population expects to see parading through the streets of the town. Bonao has 58 groups and troupes that renew their costumes each year, among which are Roba la Gallina, Los Indios (which were created in honor of the Indian Bonao); The Cows, Los Embarraos (filling their naked bodies with mud); Los Dragones, Los Leones (first carnival group in the country, in which their macaraos are people with disabilities); Los Chinos de Bonao and Los Mineros de Falconbridge. Come celebrate the carnival with parades and concerts at Parque Duarte on February 17 and 24 and the final parade on March 10 from 3:00 p.m.
