GOLF IN
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Renowned for having the most magnificent golf courses in the Caribbean region, and Latin America, the Dominican Republic is the undisputed leader of golf in the tropics. At least seven of the DR’s courses have consistently topped Golf Week Magazine’s Top 50 courses in the Caribbean and Mexico, including Punta Espada in the top 10, Los Corales—where the 2018 PGA Tour will be held in the Dominican Republic—and Teeth of the Dog, at Casa de Campo, in the number one spot since 2009. From La Romana to Punta Cana, Juan Dolio, and Puerto Plata, the DR’s courses, counting 86 sea-facing holes and 39 ocean-side, offer you tee time by the sea, or along lush inland courses designed by the most acclaimed golf course architects, including Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones Sr., Gary Player, Tom Fazio, Nick Price, and Greg Norman.

Whether champion or hobby player, you’ll enjoy trying your hand at our spectacular courses.

The Dominican Republic’s award-winning courses, along and around sparkling seas, blue lakes and lush green hills, are on every golfer’s bucket list.

Short and flat, the course was built for the executives of the large Falconbridge mining company in the city of Bonao. It was designed by an assistant to Robert Trent Jones, Sr. who also designed the Playa Dorada golf course in Puerto Plata. Be sure to pay attention to the 2nd hole, as it is […]
Bonao
One of two courses located within the Catalonia Bávaro Resort in Punta Cana, Alberto Sola designed the Cabeza de Toro Golf Club as a challenging, nine-hole executive course surrounded by swaying palm trees and five lakes for incomparable views.
Punta Cana
Part of the Catalonia Bávaro Resort, Alberto Sola and Jack Corrie designed the 18-hole Caribe Golf Club for golfers of all skill levels. This course features a large lake—impacting holes 5, 6, and 15—five lagoons, and numerous shaded trees.
Punta Cana
Get tee time at the city’s nearest 18-hole golf course.
Santo Domingo
José “Pepe” Gancedo designed memorable routings for Cocotal Golf & Country Club’s three nine-hole courses. The six-time Spanish champion used the natural terrain of an old coconut plantation for all 27 holes, including serene lakes and swaying palm trees, with Mother Nature providing constant winds.
Punta Cana
This 18-hole Tom Fazio creation, featuring six oceanfront holes set on rocky cliffs next to the Caribbean Sea, quickly established Corales Golf Club as one of DR’s must-play courses.
Punta Cana
Breathtaking views over the Chavón River Valley and seven cliffside holes are just some of the highlights on this magnificent Pete Dye golf course.
La Romana
Designed by Gary Player, the 18-hole course borders a nature reserve. Although it quickly earned a reputation as a tough course, it is playable for golfers of all skill levels thanks to five sets of tees.
Juan Dolio
A Jack Nicklaus-designed course, Hard Rock Golf Club at Cana Bay presents golfers of all levels with an 18-hole challenge as winds blow through native tropical vegetation, extending right up to the edge of the fairways.
Punta Cana
Golfers of all levels will delight at Pete B. Dye’s inland 18-hole Iberostate Bávaro Golf Club including Dye’s signature sand bunkers, lakes, and rock features, all tucked amid lush landscape and elevated terrain.

Instagram post 2233670264730051663_409040196 “Whale watching” is sometimes synonymous with choppy water, cold weather and little activity. Not in Dominican Republic. Every year, 2,000 North Atlantic Humpback Whales travel to the calm waters of Samaná Bay, in the north east region of DR, and fill our warm waters with tons of activity from mothers and calves. Most often, travelers can see whales just minutes from shore and leave with some truly incredible memories. Have you been whale watching in DR before?
Instagram post 2232980143388197950_409040196 Next month is Dominican Carnival, an annual celebration that takes place throughout February and into early March. The celebration, which typically takes place on Sundays, includes the wearing of colorful costumes that symbolize Dominican religious and traditional characters. Festivities take place all over the island, with each town adding its own twist to the celebration.
