Questa moderna chiesa cattolica è stata portata a termine nel 1992, dopo 15 anni di lavori, ed è una delle poche cattedrali al mondo ad avere una statua del Cristo raffigurato dopo la resurrezione e non morente sulla croce.

Si celebra ogni anno il Festival di Primavera, un evento che riunisce molti dei principali produttori e il turismo d’affari di Costanza in una settimana di presentazioni, incontri e mostre nella sede del Club Giapponese di Constanza. E’ una buona opportunità per conoscere le persone ed i prodotti della regione in un’informale e divertente atmosfera.

Nel centro di Constanza, di fronte alla via Maria Auxiliadora c’é un piccolo giardino giapponese, con incastonato un arco torii, tipico arco giapponese. Commemora l’eredità degli immigrati giapponesi che crearono una colonia agricola a Constanza nel 1950.

La vista più spettacolare su Constanza si gode da questo monumento alto 15 metri, che sorge nei pressi della città. Questa statua del divino infante interamente scolpita a mano è stata realizzata nel 2011 dall’artista dominicano Ramon Osorio.

Una passeggiata tra le gigantesche rocce intagliate con i petroglifi dei volti degli antichi Taino è un’esperienza indimenticabile. Secondo gli studiosi, questo sito archeologico un tempo costituiva un importante santuario per la popolazione indigena.

La Vega, famosa per il suo Carnevale, il più grande, antico e colorato del Paese, e per le due popolari località montane di Jarabacoa e Constanza, conserva anche i resti di uno dei primi insediamenti fondati nelle Americhe da Colombo per i cercatori d’oro.

Nei dintorni del Santo Cerro si trovano i resti dell’insediamento originale fondato da Cristoforo Colombo nel 1494, in un’area che oggi è classificata come parco nazionale. Gli archeologi continuano a studiare gli scavi delle fondamenta della città vecchia, che conobbe un periodo di prosperità tra il 1505 e il 1510.

Questo monumento a forma piramidale si trova a un’altitudine di 2.300. Sono stati degli artisti spagnoli a realizzare le due strutture piramidali, per celebrare il completamento della strada San José de Ocoa-Constanza nel 1958.

Il Santo Cerro è uno dei luoghi religiosi più importanti della Repubblica Dominicana. Qui si trova il santuario di Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes, meta di pellegrinaggio. Il 24 settembre di ogni anno, infatti, migliaia di fedeli giungono da tutto il Paese per rendere omaggio alla santa patrona nazionale.
