Tra le zone di pesca più note nella Repubblica Dominicana troviamo le località di Bayahíbe, un villaggio di pescatori fondato nel XIX secolo, Punta Cana, Puerto Plata e Samaná, in cui è possibile praticare la pesca sportiva di marlin, barracuda, dorado (o lampuga) e di altre specie. La pesca d’acqua dolce è molto diffusa a La Romana e a Río San Juan, dove si pescano lucci e wahoo (o acantocibi). Lungo le scogliere di Cabarete e Sosúa abbondano le opportunità di pesca a strascico e di pesca d’altura.

A Punta Cana, La Romana e Bayahíbe i tornei di pesca sono particolarmente popolari e si svolgono in maniera piuttosto vivace, con musica sulla spiaggia e prelibatezze di pesce pescato e cotto sul momento. Il modo ideale per sperimentare la pesca tradizionale è quello di rivolgersi alla cooperativa dei pescatori della meta desiderata, per imparare dagli esperti.

Visita i villaggi di pescatori della Repubblica Dominicana, alla caccia del marlin azzurro, del wahoo (o acantocibio), della corifena (o lampuga) e di altre specie marine.

Andare in kayak, pescare, fare trekking, uscire in barca e fare birdwatching attraverso un tunnel di mangrovie: sono solo alcune delle attività che è possibile svolgere nella Laguna de Bávaro, famosa per i suoi rettili e la flora.

Da Bávaro a Cap Cana, posiziona la canna da pesca su uno dei litorali più lunghi dei Caraibi e cimentati nella pesca del wahoo, della corifena, della cernia e dell’aguglia.

Dai pescatori locali, che escono in mare ogni mattina per poi rientrare con il pescato del giorno, ai centri di pesca sportiva, che accompagnano i visitatori tra le ricche acque al largo delle coste sud-orientali, Bayahíbe è un vero paradiso per gli appassionati di pesca.

La Romana è un posto ideale per chi pratica la pesca sportiva. Dal porticciolo partono tutto l’anno escursioni di pesca d’altura o di fiume, sebbene i mesi da febbraio a maggio sono i più adatti per la pesca di marlin, barracuda, ricciole del Pacifico, pesci vela o lucci.

Playa Cabeza de Toro è una meta molto amata dai turisti che soggiornano presso uno dei tanti resort della zona. Le sue acque placide, simili a quelle di una baia, sono ideali per lo snorkeling e la pesca.

Located on the north coast, directly off the highway in Cabrera, this light blond-sand beach is not what you expect: a river flows so near, it gives the sand a soft, spongy texture, while the sea is a mixture of cool and warm water from one end to the other. Starting September 15, there will be a temporary, free travel assistance plan until December 2020 to all tourists visiting a hotel, that in the event of a positive COVID-19 test while in-country, in addition to emergency coverage includes COVID-19 tests and cost coverage for long-term stay. Likewise, effective September 15, travelers will not be asked for any type of test prior to entering the country, nor will massive tests be carried out upon arrival, but rather random quick tests will be performed.
