The Dominican Republic to take over a bus stop with music, live dancers, and a chance to win a trip for two

Montreal – February 17, 2016:  Just as Montrealers are really bundling up for February, a few lucky commuters will get a live taste of sunnier climes, as the Dominican Republic takes over a bus stop on René Lévesque Boulevard on February 18th. The bus stop, transformed into a tropical paradise, will be launched with live merengue dancers who will brave the cold to bring a taste of the tropics to Quebec.

According to Cosette Garcia, Director of the Dominican Republic Tourist Board in Montreal, the Dominican Republic is one of the most popular vacation destinations for visitors from Quebec. “Each year, we send 750,000 visitors from Canada to our country. There seems to be a genuine affinity between our people, a natural warmth that we share. So the idea of this promotion – the dancers, the music – is to bring some Dominican sun here to warm at least the hearts of Montrealers until they can come and visit us again.”

People who wish to see the dancers or experience the bus stop should go to the corner of Peel Street and René Lévesque Boulevard between the hours of 7am and 8:20am. Film crews will also be on hand to record people’s reactions to this innovative program that is literally taking the Dominican Republic message to the streets!

The bus stop promotion will be supported by a contest run by Québecor Media Affichage. To enter to win a trip for two to the Dominican Republic, simply visit
