International Larimar Day is celebrated on November 22 every year. For this celebration, various activities will be carried out in the Bahoruco Municipal District and La Ciénega Municipality of the province of Barahona, as well as in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo. It seeks to promote both national and international Larimar as a semiprecious stone that identifies the country with criteria of environmental, social and economic sustainability. Activities include a craft fair, talks and cultural activities. The Larimar was declared “National Stone” for being found only in the Dominican Republic. Program:

18 — 20: Guided tour of the Larimar Museum for students in the Colonial City, Santo Domingo.

19 — 22: Talks on Tourism and Mining in the Schools of the Bahoruco Municipal District and the Municipality of La Ciénega and Barahona.

22: Inauguration the sign indicating the start of Larimar Street in Calle Mano Arriba de Bahoruco.

22: Central Act of the National Larimar Day 2019 at the School-Workshop and Museum of the Larimar. La Ciénega, Barahona.

22: Party for the District of Bahoruco in the Baseball Stadium of the Bahoruco Municipal District at 8:30 p.m.

23 — 24: Larimar Jewelry Sale Expo on Calle El Conde, from Hostos to Palo Hincado, Colonial City, Santo Domingo.
