Dominican Republic Prepares for the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games

The celebration of the oldest regional multi-sport event in the Western Hemisphere will consolidate the Dominican Republic’s position as a host of major international events and showcase its leadership in sports tourism.

Miami, July 13, 2026. The Dominican Republic is preparing to welcome athletes, coaches, officials, members of the media, and fans from across the region for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, to be held from July 24 to August 8.

Recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Central American and Caribbean Games are the oldest regional multi-sport event in the Western Hemisphere. This edition will bring together representatives from 37 nations and territories, who will compete in more than 40 sports, turning Santo Domingo into the epicenter of regional sports. Participating delegations include the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Puerto Rico, among others.

The Dominican Republic’s Minister of Tourism, David Collado, stated: “The Dominican Republic has the infrastructure, air connectivity, hotel accommodations, and organizational capacity required to host world-class international sporting events. The Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games reflect our country’s strength as a sports tourism destination, where athletes, delegations, media representatives, and visitors will find everything they need to enjoy a memorable experience that combines sporting excellence, culture, hospitality, and the natural beauty that distinguishes us as the Caribbean’s leading destination.”

José Monegro, President of the Organizing Committee for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, added: “Santo Domingo 2026 will bring together the leading delegations from Central America and the Caribbean for a competition of the highest caliber, further establishing the Dominican Republic as a trusted host for major international events.”
