Miches Presented in Miami as the Caribbean’s Next Premier Luxury Destination

During the event, PROMICHES President William Phelan highlighted the evolution of Miches as the result of long-term planning focused on protecting its natural resources while promoting a high-value tourism offering.

The gathering also featured remarks from Gabriel Escarrer, Chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, and Alejandro Reynal, Global President and CEO of Four Seasons, who shared their companies’ perspectives on Miches’ potential and their commitment to the area’s development. The future arrival of Meliá Hotels and the presence of Four Seasons were also highlighted as two investments that strengthen the region’s international positioning.

Frank Elías Rainieri, CEO of Grupo Puntacana, emphasized the importance of promoting projects that balance economic growth with the conservation of the natural environment, citing the experience of Zemí Miches as a model.

The event was led by Minister of Tourism David Collado, who presented the project’s key developments and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to a tourism model that promotes investment, sustainability, and community development.

“Miches represents a new generation of tourism projects for the Dominican Republic. We are demonstrating that it is possible to develop world-class infrastructure while preserving the natural richness that makes this destination unique. The interest shown by leading hotel brands confirms the area’s tremendous potential to further strengthen the country’s tourism offering,” Collado said.

The presentation highlighted that the development of Miches is based on four strategic pillars: preserving its identity and natural heritage, sustainability, luxury and wellness tourism, and attracting long-term investment.

With pristine beaches, mountains, lagoons, and exceptional biodiversity, Miches continues to establish itself as a distinctive destination for travelers seeking exclusive experiences in close contact with nature and aligned with global trends in responsible tourism.

The gathering concluded with a call to continue strengthening public-private collaboration to support the orderly growth of Miches and consolidate the Dominican Republic’s position as a regional leader in sustainable and high-end tourism.
