The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is one of La Vega’s most representative religious landmarks. Designed by Dominican architect Pedro Mena Lajara, the structure harmoniously integrates modern architectural lines with Catholic symbolic elements. Construction began in 1977 and the cathedral was inaugurated on February 22, 1992, replacing a previous chapel that had been destroyed.
