The Church of Santa Rosa de Lima represents the origin of Catholic life in La Romana. In 1914 it began as a modest hermitage intended to serve a growing community. Given the population increase, in 1924 a community meeting was organized to replace it with a larger and more modern temple. Finally, in 1940, the current church was inaugurated, built in lime and brick, characteristic materials of the time. Its historical value lies not only in its age, but in its role as a spiritual and social meeting point during the urban development of the city.
